Using meta tags

One way to promote your Web site through search engines is to use meta tags. Meta tags are optional lines of HTML code in your Web pages that provide descriptive information about your site, but in a "hidden" form that is not displayed by browsers.

Meta tags typically correspond to the keywords that Internet users are likely to enter in search engines. However, because search engines all work in a slightly different way, it can be difficult to determine what tags will produce the best results.
