Using RealAudio® and RealVideo®
Way2Host's plans provide you the option of incorporating RealAudio and RealVideo multi-media files into your site. Way2Host runs the G2 Server from RealNetworks, version 8, which supports both streaming audio and video. With RealAudio and RealVideo, a digital audio or video stream is transmitted from the server over the Internet in small packets. The media is played piece-by-piece, in "real time," as the packets are received. Except for a small amount of buffering at the beginning, the process is almost invisible to the user.
In order for your site's visitors to play RealAudio or RealVideo files, they must have the RealPlayer installed on their system. This can be downloaded free of charge from www.real.com.
The process you follow to incorporate RealAudio and RealVideo files on your Web site differs depending upon what file type you are working with, either .ra files or .rm files. Refer to the appropriate section below for details.
In order to add RealAudio/Video to your plan, you must request this feature. You can do this from SiteControl's Plan Info section. For details on activating plan features, see the SiteControl User Guide. For information on pricing, visit www.way2host.com.
