Overview
All hosting plans come with one default email address. This address is associated with the domain's Master User account. By default, the email address for this account is in the form:
For example, if your domain name is sampledomain.com, your Master User name is sampledomain and your default email address is sampledomain@sampledomain.com.
This email account can act as a "catch all" account; if desired, you can configure this account so that all email messages sent to your domain that do not have an actual email account associated with them will be delivered to this address's mailbox until you specify otherwise.
In addition to the default email account, your plan may include additional email accounts. These email accounts use POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3), a protocol for downloading email messages from an email server to your computer. With a POP3 email account, all of the email messages sent to your email address are stored on a POP3 mail server until you log on to the server and download the messages. You can use Way2Host's SMTP mail server to send outgoing email messages, or you can use an ISPs SMTP server.
You have a number of different options for accessing your email messages. You can use SiteMail, Way2Host's Web-based email application, to download your messages from the server or you can use a traditional email client such as Microsoft® Outlook®, Eudora® or Netscape® Communicator.
You can use SiteControl to work with your email addresses. You can, among other things:
- Forward email
- Create email aliases
- Associate different actions with email addresses
- Change email passwords
For more information on performing these and other email-related tasks, including setting up additional email addresses and accounts, see the SiteControl User Guide.
The following sections provide detailed information on using SiteMail and configuring third-party email clients to send and receive mail from Way2Host's mail servers.
