Using Macromedia Dreamweaver

These instructions apply to Dreamweaver 4.0. If you are using other versions, consult the product documentation for detailed instructions.

  1. Open the Site window for your Web site by selecting either Site > New Site or Site > Open Site.
  2. When the Site Definition window appears, select the Remote Info category in the left pane.
  3. Click the down arrow at the right of the Access field and select FTP. The dialog box updates to reflect your selection.
  4. In the FTP Host field, enter your domain name without the www prefix. For example:

    sampledomain.com

If it has been less than 72 hours since you set up your account, you may need to use your temporary URL instead of your domain name. You can find this by logging into SiteControl.

  1. In the Host Directory field, enter:

    /home/[domainname]/www
  2. In the Login and Password fields, enter your Master User name and password or the user name and password for your FTP user account created in SiteControl.
  3. If you are connecting to the server from behind a firewall, select the Use Firewall option.
  4. If your firewall configuration requires use of passive FTP (which lets your local software set up the FTP connection rather than requesting the remote server to set it up), select Use Passive FTP.
  5. Click OK to save your settings.
  6. To connect to the server and begin transferring files, open the file in the Dreamweaver document window. Then, on the Site menu select Put.
  7. Dreamweaver establishes a connection to the server and the Site window displays your remote and local files.
  8. To upload a file, select the directory to which you want to upload files in the left pane (Remote Site). Select the file you want to upload in the right pane (Local Folder). Then, click the Upload button on the toolbar.
