Registering domain names

Once you have decided on a domain name and have checked that it is available, you should register it. Way2Host can register your domain name for you.

Although Way2Host will register your domain name for you, we are not your domain name registrar. The organization ICANN is responsible for certifying companies as domain name registrars. Only a domain name registrar is permitted to access and modify the master database of domain names maintained by InterNIC.

When Way2Host registers your domain name for you, we will send your domain name registration request to an accredited registrar immediately after you submit your order form. The registrar typically completes the registration process within 24 hours of receipt. The propagation process normally requires 48 to 72 hours.

You should wait 48 to 72 hours between receipt of your order confirmation from Way2Host and submission of your domain registration request in order to allow time for the nameserver information to propagate.

If you have signed up for a hosting account but have not yet registered your domain name, or if you want to register a new domain name, you can do so from within SiteControl.

To register your name from within SiteControl:

1. In SiteControl, click Domain Name. The Domain Name Management page appears.

   

2. Click Register New Domain Name.

   

3. Enter the domain name that you want to register. Make sure to include the extension (for example, .com or .net) but do not include the "www" prefix.
4. Click Check Availability. If the name is currently available, you will be presented with your registration options.
5. Carefully review the pricing information and then make the appropriate selections.
6. Click Register Selected Domains.
