InterActive's Guestbook manager enables you to customize the look and feel of your guestbook and to configure a number of different options that control its functionality.
If you are using Basic InterActives, some of the following fields and controls may not be available to you. To have access to these extra feature, you can upgrade to Advanced InterActives.

If you edit a guestbook that you have embedded in your Web page, you must update the code in your page's HTML and upload the new version of the page for the changes to take effect. |
To edit a guestbook:

On the InterActives main page, click Edit next to the guestbook you want to configure. The Guestbook properties page displays. |

On the properties page, click Edit next to the following sections to configure the specific properties. For detailed information on each field in a section, click the appropriate link below. Look and Feel |

When you have finished editing the guestbook properties click Save. |
Use the following options and controls to customize the look and feel of your guestbook. When you are finished, click Save to update your guestbook code.

Home page information |
These options control how links to and from your Web site operate. |
|
Home page address |
The complete URL to the Web page you want to direct your visitors back to when they are finished with the guestbook. |
|
Home page link text |
The text for the link that will take your visitors to the Web page you specified in the Home page address field. If you are using frames, leave this field blank. |
|
Link target |
The target for the home page link. |
|
Open visitors' links in |
The target for links your visitors include in their guestbook entries. |
|
General appearance |
These options control the general appearance of your guestbook. |
|
Guestbook title |
The title of your guestbook. The guestbook name you supplied when you created this guestbook is used by default. |
|
Center guestbook |
To center the guestbook in the visitors' browser windows, select Yes. |
|
Guestbook width |
The overall width (in pixels) of the guestbook. |
|
Entry divider |
The elements to display between guestbook entries. You can input text or HTML. For example, to separate entries with a horizontal rule, input <HR></HR>. |

Enable graphical smileys |
Selecting this option provides a toolbar of graphical icons users can add to their postings.
|
|
Text before guestbook form |
The text to display at the top of the page before the guestbook. |
|
Text after entries |
The text to display after all entries in the guestbook. You can input text or HTML. |
|
Extra head space |
The text to display in the extra space between guestbook headings. |
|
Fonts |
These options control what fonts are used in your guestbook. To use the visitors' default browser fonts, leave these fields blank. |
|
Primary font |
Your first choice for font selection. Specify a valid HTML font name, such as Verdana or Arial. |
|
Secondary font |
The font to use if a visitor's browser does not support the primary font. Specify a valid HTML font name, such as Verdana or Arial. |
|
Font size |
The size of the font for guestbook entries. |
|
Colors |
These options control the colors and background image used in the guestbook. You can specify colors by entering a hex number, a valid HTML color name or by using the color picker to select a color from a palette. |

Font color |
The color for the text in the guestbook. |
|
Link color |
The color for links. |
|
Visited link color |
The color for links a visitor has already clicked. |
|
Active link color |
The color for links that are active (being clicked). |
|
Background color |
The color for the background of the guestbook. |
|
Background image address |
The complete URL for an image to use as a background for your guestbook. |
|
Fixed background |
Controls whether the image stays fixed in its location or whether it moves with the page when visitors scroll. |
Use the following options and controls to configure date and time settings in your guestbook. When you are finished, click Save to update your guestbook code.

To edit an entry:

On the Guestbook main page, click Edit next to Edit and Delete Messages. The Edit and delete page appears. |

Locate the entry you want to edit and then click the Edit button for that entry. If the message you want to edit does not display, use the drop-down at the top of the page to view additional entries. |

Make changes as necessary to the various message components. |

Click Save. |
To delete an entry:

On the Guestbook main page, click Edit next to Edit and Delete Messages. The Edit and delete page appears. |

Perform one of the following actions: To delete a selected entry, locate the entry to delete and click the Delete button for that entry. To delete multiple entries, select the checkbox next to each entry to delete and then click the Delete button at the top of the page. |

Use the following options and controls to configure message settings in your guestbook. When you are finished, click Save to update your guestbook code.

Censoring options |
This option enables you to censor specified words and IP addresses. |
|
Must approve entries before going public |
When selected, routes all entries to the specified email notification address for approval before being made public. To approve, click the approval link in the notification email. |

Allow HTML posting |
Specifies whether visitors can input HTML in their guestbook entries. |
|
Censored words / IP addresses |
The words and IP addresses to censor. Entries containing any of these words or from any of the specified IP addresses will be deleted from the guestbook automatically. Separate multiple entries with a comma. Do not use spaces before or after the comma. |
|
Private messages |
These options enable you to let visitors post messages that are hidden from the public. Only users with a valid password can access private messages. When a user clicks a private message in the guestbook, they will prompted for a password. |
|
Allow private messages |
Enables visitors to select an option that makes their entries private. |
|
Private message text |
Text that appears in the guestbook to indicate that the message is a private one. |
|
User passwords |
Passwords for accessing private messages. Separate multiple passwords with a comma. These passwords also apply to the Restrict view and Restrict post options described in the following section. |

Restrict guestbook usage |
These options enable you to restrict access to the guestbook through the use of a password. |
|
Restrict view |
When enabled, visitors must supply a valid password (see User passwords above) in order to view guestbook entries. |
|
Redirect to address |
The address to which visitors are redirected if they do not supply a valid password. |
|
Restrict post |
When enable, visitors must supply a valid password (see User passwords above) in order to post entries in the guestbook. |
|
Redirect to |
The address to which visitors are redirected if they do not supply a valid password. |
|
Guestbook page settings |
Guestbooks are limited to 500 entries. When the limit is met, the oldest message is deleted and replaced with the new entry. |
|
Reverse messages |
Displays entries from oldest to newest. |
|
Number of messages per page |
The number of entries to display on each page. |
Use the following options and controls to set up automatic email responses. When you are finished, click Save to update your guestbook code.
