Editing a forum


InterActive's forum manager enables you to customize the look and feel of your forum and to configure a number of different options that control its functionality.

If you are using Basic InterActives, some of the following fields and controls may not be available to you. To have access to these extra feature, you can upgrade to Advanced InterActives.

To edit a forum:

On the InterActives main page, click Edit next to the forum you want to configure. The forum properties page displays.

On the properties page, click Edit next to the following sections to configure the specific properties. For detailed information on each field in a section, click the appropriate link below.

When you have finished editing the forum properties click Save.

Use the following options and controls to customize the look and feel of your forum. When you are finished, click Save to update your forum code.

 

Field or Control

Description

General Settings

 

Forum title

The title of the forum. Displays to your visitors near the top of the forum page.

Welcome text

Introductory text to display to your forum visitors. This text displays at the very top of the forum page, above the forum title.

Home page information

These options control how links to and from your Web site operate.

Home page address

The complete URL to the Web page you want to direct your visitors back to when they are finished with the forum.

Home page link text

The text for the link that will take your visitors to the Web page you specified in the Home page address field.

If you are using frames, leave this field blank.

Link target

The target for the home page link.

Fonts settings

These options control what fonts are used in your forum. To use the visitors' default browser fonts, leave these fields blank.

Font

The font to use in the forum. Specify a valid HTML font name, such as Verdana or Arial. You can specify multiple fonts (first choice, second choice, etc.) by separating the font names with commas. If you do not specify a font, the visitor's browser's default font is used.

Font size

The size of the font in points (pts).

Layout settings

These options control the layout of your forum.

Align forum

Specifies whether the forum aligns along the left or right of the browser window, or in the middle.

Forum width

The width of the forum area in pixels.

Text before forum

The text to display at the top of the page before the forum.

Text after forum

The text to display at the bottom of the page after the forum.

Colors

These options control the colors and background image used in the forum. You can specify colors by entering a hex number, a valid HTML color name or by using the color picker to select a color from a palette.

Table background

The background of the table that holds the forum.

Table header color

The background color of the heading row of the forum.

Even row color

In the list of threads in a category, you can shade alternating rows different colors. Specifies the color for even numbered rows.

Odd row color

In the list of threads in a category, you can shade alternating rows different colors. Specifies the color for odd numbered rows.

Table header text color

The color of the text that displays in the forum table header row.

Font color

The color for the text in the forum.

Link color

The color for links.

Visited link color

The color for links a visitor has already clicked.

Active link color

The color for links that are active (being clicked).

Background color

The color for the background of the Web page in which the forum displays.

Background image address

The complete URL for an image to use as a background for your forum.

Fixed background

Controls whether the image stays fixed in its location or whether it moves with the page when visitors scroll.

 


Date and Time

Use the following options and controls to configure date and time settings in your forum. When you are finished, click Save to update your forum code.

The format to use for displaying the time an entry was posted.
